In total 20 participants from the SME Foundation and Ministry of Industries took part in 3-day training programme on “Policy Formulation for SMEs” which was delivered by Ali Sabet, Team Leader. This 3-day training programme was held at the premises of Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM), in Cox’s Bazar, from 4th to 6th November 2016.
The training was inaugurated by Mr. Sushen Chandra Das, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Industries, and INSPIRED Project Director, as the Chief Guest, with the presence of Mr. Khairul Kabir Menon, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Industries, and INSPIRED Deputy Project Director as Special Guests.
The main objective of developing and delivering programme was to impart the basic skills and understanding necessary for the work of the selected/concerned officials of SMEF and MoI, and thus allow them to become familiarised on policy formulation, policy implementation and policy analysis.
Participants were given the knowledge to enable them to diagnose and identify public policy issues, possible problems that may arise in policy formulation and implementation and the ability to identify current needs, with particular focus on SME policy formulation.
Furthermore, this training on policy formulation has left these officials far better able to Identify and consult with stakeholders to determine needs, expectations and demands, and importantly, to suggest solutions to the problems that may arise when implementing policies. They have been given the tools to facilitate problem-solving and to ensure optimal and accessible service delivery, achieve operational objectives, and use a variety of different models when formulating polices.
